About the data

This metric is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 Guidelines. It covers one of the requirements of Indicator G4-HR6 - 'Operations and suppliers identified as having significant risk for incidents of forced or compulsory labor, and measures to contribute to the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labor'.

Not to be subjected to forced or compulsory labor is considered a fundamental human right and is a provision of the UN ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights' (97) and subject to ILO Conventions 29 'Forced Labour Convention' (24) and 105 'Abolition of Forced Labour Convention' (29). Forced or compulsory labor exists in a variety of forms and the data provided will indicate the organization’s challenges in contributing to the elimination of such labor.

Identify operations and suppliers considered to have significant risk for incidents of forced or compulsory labor, G4-HR6-a, in terms of:

  • Type of operations (such as manufacturing plant) and suppliers* (another metric exists for 'Countries or geographical areas with operations and suppliers considered at risk')

The process of identification reflects the organization’s approach to risk assessment on this issue and may draw from recognized international data sources such as the ILO Information and reports on the application of Conventions and Recommendations (57).

If company reported on measures to contribute to the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labor (G4-HR6-b) include relevant quote or page number in the comments. For further guidance on how companies may report this, see the ILO ‘Tripartite Declaration of Principles Concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy' (64) and OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (73).

*If specific suppliers are reported, include these in comments.
