Sustainable Forestry refers to how a company manages owned, leased or sourced forestlands so that timber production, ecosystem integrity and community benefits can be maintained in perpetuity. It covers the full forest-management cycle, from planning and harvesting to regeneration and long-term monitoring, and includes:

  • adoption of internationally-recognised certification schemes (e.g., FSC, PEFC, SFI);

  • protection of High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) areas within concessions;

  • climate-smart silviculture, fire & pest management and climate-adaptation planning;

  • free, prior & informed consent (FPIC) and benefit-sharing with Indigenous Peoples and local communities;

  • transparent disclosure of harvest volumes, growth-to-drain ratios, standing timber inventory and restoration outcomes.
