Page 6: "Apple selects suppliers for assessment based on a number of factors, including geographic risk, previous assessment performance, manufacturing process risks, and planned spending."
Page 7: "The initiatives below have both assisted with the identification of existing and emerging risks at the mining level, while also providing solutions at an industry level"
--> statement regarding p. 6 does not apply for this metric.
see p. 91 for "High Risk Regions"
see p. 95 for identification of high risk resources: tin, tantalum, tungsten, gold.
see p. 96 for Cobalt & Mineral Supply Chain mapping
The above mentioned references are not valid in the context of this project since they do not come from the modern slavery statement.
Interestingly, the statement doesn't explicitly identify key risk areas for Apple. p.6-7 give an overview of how the company assesses risks, but it doesn't present an overview of salient human rights risks in the report itself.
The comments above do not come from the modern slavery statement and as such cannot be taken into account.
The statement provides a lot of details on how the company assesses human rights risk (see p.6-7) but it does not provide an overview of salient human rights risks (e.g. references to high-risk areas without list of regions or countries, etc).
