About the data
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Target Dashboard tracks companies and financial institutions that have made commitments or had science-based targets validated by SBTi Services. The dataset covers 15,000+ organisations globally across all sectors and organisation types — including corporates, SMEs, and financial institutions — recording their near-term target status, long-term target status, net-zero status, target classification, and target years. The dashboard is updated every Thursday, with commitment removals taking place once a month, ordinarily on the first Thursday of the month. More information can be found here.
Methodology
This metric records the year by which a company has committed to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, as recorded in the SBTi Target Dashboard. The value reflects the net-zero target year as submitted during the validation process. Under the Corporate Net-Zero Standard, companies are required to reach net-zero no later than 2050.
Where a company has no validated net-zero target or has only made a commitment that has not yet been validated, no year will be recorded.
