About the data
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Target Dashboard tracks companies and financial institutions that have made commitments or had science-based targets validated by SBTi Services. The dataset covers 15,000+ organisations globally across all sectors and organisation types — including corporates, SMEs, and financial institutions — recording their near-term target status, long-term target status, net-zero status, target classification, and target years. The dashboard is updated every Thursday, with commitment removals taking place once a month, ordinarily on the first Thursday of the month. More information can be found here.
Methodology
This metric records the target year by which a company has committed to achieve its validated near-term science-based target. The value is drawn directly from the SBTi Target Dashboard and reflects the end year of the company's near-term target timeframe as submitted during the validation process. Near-term targets must cover a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 10 years from the date of submission.
Where a company has no validated near-term target or has only made a commitment that has not yet been validated, no target year will be recorded.
