About the data
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Target Dashboard tracks companies and financial institutions that have made commitments or had science-based targets validated by SBTi Services. The dataset covers 15,000+ organisations globally across all sectors and organisation types — including corporates, SMEs, and financial institutions — recording their near-term target status, long-term target status, net-zero status, target classification, and target years. The dashboard is updated every Thursday, with commitment removals taking place once a month, ordinarily on the first Thursday of the month. More information can be found here.
Methodology
This metric records the official published wording of a company's science-based target commitment or commitments, as listed in the SBTi Target Dashboard. The text is reproduced directly from the SBTi's records and reflects the precise language submitted and validated during the target approval process. Where a company has multiple targets, the full target language for all targets is included in a single entry.
Where a company has no validated targets and has only made a commitment, the target language field may reflect the terms of that commitment. Where no targets or commitments are on record, no value will be recorded.
