The spotlight has never shone more brightly on the environmental credentials of automakers around the world. While much of the attention is rightly focused on energy efficiency and harmful emissions, the question of managing the waste that is a by-product of the various manufacturing processes is just as crucial (source: Automotivemanufacturingsolutions).

This project has been designed to gather data on waste in the automotive industry, this will allow us to:

• determine the total amount and type of waste generated,

• measure progress towards waste reduction,

• identify potential improvements in the process efficiency and productivity.

The Global Reporting Initiative G4 metrics will be used as they seem to be the most commonly used metrics in the sector, by using these metrics it will make it easier to collate data, evaluate it, and determine where the gaps are.
