Investigating working conditions and labor practices is key to measuring how an organization cares for its employees. It is also a particularly difficult topic, as employees tend to have less leverage than employers or institutions, making open data an important mechanism for comparing company performance and helping companies see where they can improve. Metrics added to this project - such as injury rates and fatalities, mechanisms for addressing grievances and issues of discrimination, and collective bargaining rights together - can give an indication of employee rights, equity and productivity.
