About

Child labor refers to work that deprives children of their childhood and affects their schooling, their potential and their dignity. It’s work that’s harmful to them mentally, physically and socially.

Every company is expected to make a public commitment to respect internationally recognised human rights, which include the right to be free from child labour.

Not all companies are expected to have a stand alone policy on child labour. Whatever approach a company chooses, it should reflect its potential involvement with child labour risks. For instance, a company in an industry with significant and widespread child labour risks may choose to develop a separate child labour statement.

Regardless of what form it takes, the commitment should be embedded throughout the organization, which means driving respect for human rights across the organization and into its business values and culture.

Collective Research

The scope for this project (topic and sector) was suggested by WikiRate's community.

Data Discovery is a monthly session where the WikiRate community gathers new ideas for four research sprints.

The result is a new data insight released weekly to show how companies are impacting people and the planet.

Everyone is welcome to bring ideas of topics and companies to research. Together we’ll:

  • Gain perspective on the community's research interests
  • Be inspired by last month's results in a series of infographics
  • Pick ideas for companies and topics to research in the next month

Export the Data

Use the filters to explore the data.

At the bottom of the page, there are links to download the current answer results in CSV or JSON format.

Clicking on those links will provide an export URL that will allow you to download answers with the current filters.

  • CSV downloads will allow a maximum of 500 answers per request without a Wikirate account and 5000 answers per request with a Wikirate account. To download more answers than that, you will need to do multiple exports (e.g. using the filters to split the export by year) or use the API.
  • JSON downloads produce 20 answers per page. When there are more than 20 results, the response will include at least one paging URL, which you can use to retrieve the complete list.

This crowd-research project will remain active on the WikiRate platform. Do you want to help us with this or another project? You can sign up as a volunteer researcher or join our next meeting. Do not hesitate to contact us!
