2020 | Burberry Group plc | Employee dialogue (sector specific)
Does the company mention engaging directly in dialogue with suppliers’ workers at one or more levels of the supply chain (raw materials, textiles, manufacturing) as part of their due diligence?
Yes

Audits, announced or unannounced, consist of worker interviews, document reviews and site tours, and are repeated periodically to confirm ongoing compliance and continuous improvement. The frequency of audits depends on the level of performance in previous audits – better performing factories are audited less frequently. Worker interviews are always conducted confidentially, and workers are selected at random with fair representation of the workforce, including, for example, union and worker representatives, first aiders and migrant workers. Our audit methodology prescribes that we interview at least 10% of the workers in a factory (p. 7-8)

During ethical trade audits and as part of our broader responsibility programme, we conduct interviews with relevant stakeholder groups and workers to better understand their needs and perceptions, while gathering insights into the direct and indirect impacts of our business and developing focused mitigation plans where required.(p.9)
