About

This metric is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standard Guidelines.

GRI 403 addresses the topic of occupational health and safety. Healthy and safe work conditions are recognized as a human right and addressed in authoritative intergovernmental instruments, including those of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Healthy and safe work conditions involve both prevention of physical and mental harm, and promotion of workers’ health.

Data on work-related injuries are a measure of the extent of harm suffered by workers; they are not a measure of safety.

Recordable work-related injuries: work-related injury that results in any of the following: death, days away from work, restricted work or transfer to another job, medical treatment beyond first aid, or loss of consciousness; or significant injury diagnosed by a physician or other licensed healthcare professional, even if it does not result in death, days away from work, restricted work or job transfer, medical treatment beyond first aid, or loss of consciousness
