The Mariners are speading the word about the importance of sustainablity to the community and especially the younger gernerations. They have implemented two enviromental superheroes; Captain Plastic and Kid Compost. They aim to make Safeco and Seattle Mariners fans to be as "green" as possible. Together they urge fans, young and old to join the "Green Team". The duo appears on signage and recycling bins around the stadium. As well as video segments on the scoreboard and appearances at the stadium to encourage fans to participate in the ballpark's recycling and composting
