Approximately 0.5 million tonnes were Scope 2 emissions, from purchased electricity. In 2016 their absolute GHG emissions decreased by 1.0 million tonnes compared to 2015, due primarily to reduced flaring in North Dakota related to gas capture enabled by infrastructure enhancements and reduced production in that region due to weak oil prices, as well as reduced flaring in Equatorial Guinea related to a decline in production.
