Whistleblowing Mechanisms evaluates the confidential channels and procedural safeguards a company provides so that employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders can report suspected misconduct or wrongdoing - such as fraud, corruption, harassment, safety breaches or environmental violations - without fear of retaliation. It covers:
- the availability of multiple, accessible reporting avenues (hotlines, web portals, ombuds, open-door policies) that allow anonymous and multilingual submissions;
governance of the process - independent oversight (e.g., audit committee), triage, investigation protocols, timelines, documentation and evidence handling;protections against retaliation, including anti-reprisal policies, remediation measures and disciplinary consequences for retaliators;training and communication that ensure all stakeholders understand how to use the mechanism and trust its integrity;tracking, root-cause analysis and disclosure of case volumes and outcomes, aligned with frameworks such as GRI 2-26, ISO 37002, EU ESRS G1 and national whistle-blower protection laws.
