Product Safety evaluates how a company ensures that every product or service it designs, manufactures and delivers is safe for its intended and reasonably foreseeable uses - protecting consumers, workers and the environment throughout the product life-cycle. It covers:

  • hazard identification & risk assessment - early-stage design reviews, materials selection, failure-mode and effects analysis (FMEA), human-factors engineering and regulatory conformity checks (e.g., CE, UL, FDA, CPSC);
  • testing, certification & quality control - laboratory and field tests, batch sampling, third-party certifications and production-line controls that verify compliance with safety standards and specifications;
  • traceability & recall readiness - lot coding, supply-chain visibility, incident-reporting systems and documented procedures for prompt corrective actions, withdrawals or recalls;
  • user information & training - clear labelling, instructions, warnings and after-sales support that enable safe installation, operation, maintenance and disposal;
  • continuous monitoring & improvement - collection of field-performance data, customer feedback, near-miss reports and regulatory updates feeding into design changes, CAPA processes and transparent disclosure - aligned with frameworks such as ISO 10377/ISO 9001, GRI 416, EU General Product Safety Regulation and CPSIA.
