Overview

history edit build

Political Contributions evaluates how a company provides financial or in-kind support to political parties, candidates, committees, ballot initiatives and other entities engaged in electoral activities - and how transparently it discloses that support. It covers:

  • direct contributions: corporate treasury funds or employee-funded PAC donations to federal, state or local candidates, political parties and referendum campaigns;
  • indirect contributions: payments or in-kind support routed through trade associations, social-welfare (501(c)(4)) groups,

    dark-money organisations, super-PACs or other third-party vehicles;

  • non-financial support: bundled employee contributions, fundraising events, use of company facilities or resources, and senior-executive endorsements;
  • disclosure of recipients, amounts, timing and issues supported, plus alignment between political spending, stated ESG values and public commitments;
  • governance and oversight - board or committee approval, internal controls, compliance with jurisdictional limits, and regular public reporting (e.g., on company websites, in sustainability reports or via lobby registers).
