They can raise the issue directly with Whitbread or by using the 'Speaking Out line' (a hotline) which is run through Hospitality Action. There should be no fear of reprisal. Focal Point (Page 7): Within the 'Grievance Policy', there is mention of the 'clear guidelines on how individuals can raise their concerns' and the subsequent response process. However, there is no mention of whom an employee should contact internal to Whitbread - a focal point. The policy does encourage and support employees in using union representation. Our technical managers have undergone training on ethical performance and due diligence and are provided
with the tools they need to record basic observations rela
ting to core labour principles during every site visit.
