Background

With the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 and inclusion of the private sector as a key contributor, it is important to track corporate contributions towards the 2030 target. In order to address this challenge Wikirate is running a global student research program to support and advance the SDGs by proactively identifying, aggregating, analysing, and sharing the achievements of companies in support of the SDGs. These collective research projects have generated more than 50,000 open data points for assessing performance and transparency of companies, with more than 5,000 students at over 20 universities contributing.

To better understand how both individual companies and the sector can improve their sustainability performance, three challenges have been selected that contribute valuable research on corporate disclosures and the reporting standards used to assess them.

The Assessment

This project aims to generate knowledge and learning on business’ responsibility and sustainability impacts around the globe through increasing access to and comparability of data on corporate sustainability performance.
