To keep students engaged and prepare them for the future, educators are discovering innovative ways to involve them in practical and impactful research activities. Since 2016, Ewha Womans University, one of South Korea's most prestigious universities, has integrated Wikirate into its "Sustainability Reporting and Analysis" course.

Together, students have collaboratively built a data set on 130 companies across 92 metrics, covering indicators mapped to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Students have used Wikirate to:

  • work in teams to examine companies' levels of disclosure, tangible contributions to specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and trends over time within a chosen industry.

  • research the most recent data, address data gaps, and ensure the accuracy of data from previous years, thereby cultivating attention to detail and the ability to evaluate and validate information effectively.

  • develop valuable digital communication and storytelling skills by creating five to ten-minute videos, showcasing their creativity through various visualization techniques, including simple presentations and animated formats.

Through this partnership, over 100 students at Ewha Womans University have participated, contributing to the more than 7,000 students trained through Wikirate so far.
