About the data

history edit build
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Target Dashboard tracks companies and financial institutions that have made commitments or had science-based targets validated by SBTi Services. The dataset covers 15,000+ organisations globally across all sectors and organisation types — including corporates, SMEs, and financial institutions — recording their near-term target status, long-term target status, net-zero status, target classification, and target years. The dashboard is updated every Thursday, with commitment removals taking place once a month, ordinarily on the first Thursday of the month. More information can be found here.

Methodology

history edit build
This metric records the temperature-alignment level that a company's validated long-term science-based target meets. Long-term targets are assessed under the SBTi's Corporate Net-Zero Standard, which requires companies to reduce at least 90% of their emissions by 2050 at the latest, with any remaining emissions neutralised through permanent carbon removal solutions.

The possible values for this metric are:

1.5°C — the company's validated long-term target is consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 1.5°C, in line with the Corporate Net-Zero Standard.

No Target — the company has no validated long-term science-based target on record with the SBTi.
