Wikirate and Walk Free have teamed up to investigate if electronics companies are doing enough to tackle forced labor.
Electronic devices - from laptops to phones and TV - are part of our everyday life. But many of them have been manufactured by people who were forced to work. Forced labor, in minerals extraction or manufacturing, is pervasive in electronics supply chains. It is not an easy issue to tackle, but you can do something about it.
This group is made out by volunteer contributors and researchers helping to assess companies’ modern slavery statements.
The statements contain essential information about a company’s policies and due diligence processes. The data is gathered through crowd research and stored on Wikirate. Subsequently, this data plays a crucial role in powering the Beyond Compliance dashboard. Even more importantly, it is utilized to formulate policy recommendations, like in this report about the renewable energy sector.
