The Palatana plant of the Company is registered as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 26th December, 2012 and we are proud that the Project qualifies to be one amongst the largest CDM projects registered in the country. The applicable Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from the project are dependent on the actual generation from the project and the issuance of CERs is subject to successful verification of the project at UNFCCC.

ONGC has given due importance to pursue a low carbon high growth strategy and has undertaken some path-breaking initiatives towards Green House Gas mitigation. ONGC commenced its CDM journey way back in the year 2006. Currently, it has 15 registered CDM projects with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that yield (potential) Certified Emissions Reductions (CER) of approximately 2.1 million annually.
