This metric covers Sustainable Development Goal 7 of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Goal 7 aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. SDG 7 has four dimensions, calling for energy to be affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern. The global economy’s reliance on fossil fuels and the increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is visibly affecting the climate on every continent. At the same time, one in five people lacks access to electricity.
