After renaming metrics, I've been deleting the metric title cards. After checking to make sure they were deleted (I do receive the message afterwards that X card has been deleted), I find that they are still existing for some reason. Here are a few of them that I tried again to delete this morning.

I was looking at those cards and attempted to re-delete the first one and it worked with no problem. So I took a closer look at the second one and realize that it's not a title card any more, it's just a normal RichText card. And it probably exists because you created this pseudo alias:
https://wikirate.org/Global_Reporting_Initiative+Persistent_Organic_Pollutants_POP_G4_EN21_a
...though I'll admit that the history wasn't as helpful in establishing this as I might have hoped. That warrants further investigation.
But do you think this explains why the cards are still there? Ie, they were deleted and then recreated as part of the alias?
To take a step back, when you rename metrics, are you renaming the Title card or the Metric card?
If there is only one metric with a given title (which is typical), then it's probably simplest to rename the title. Then you don't have to go back and delete anything. If multiple metrics have the same title (but different designers), then renaming the metric itself is the way to go.
Yeah, we were doing a mix. It is more efficient to just rename the title card, but out out of habit I'd done those the other way. Looks like they're all deletable now, thanks.
