“Deforestation and Fire Monitoring: Using the tools available by the World Resources Institute (WRI), since early 2017, DAABON plantations and of those smallholder/independent areas and locations for all crops are disclosed publically, and monthly revisions for fire and deforestation are carried out and kept for record under the Sustainability Department’s GIS system under the supervision of our professional Kelly Torres. This includes comparison of areas, year to year (for seasonal changes) and monthly vegetation comparison. The use of drones is being implemented. Up to date, we have not had any incidents and our risk is considered low, however, a full fire response management plan (that includes education of community, response and equipment) is available at per site. The extents of monitoring include:
▪ Northern Coast (Magdalena, Cesar, Guajira): 9443 ha. (w/smallholders) ▪ Central Area (Santander): 3941 ha.”
