A growing exodus of South African farmers to other parts of Africa could have a detrimental impact on the agribusiness sector, depriving SA of knowledge and skills. The BMI report says the sector will be hit by severe drought and the effects of El Niño. Weakening exchange rates, lower farm incomes and poor financial conditions in SSA will come from a weaker economic environment in the region and will reduce agricultural machinery sales growth compared to the last several years.
