Re intended behavior: clicking on bar graph is supposed to filter as you've described. It's also supposed to make that explicit by adding a filter item to the box that says what it's filtering for.

Re unknowns, I don't think there's anything planned, but I think we should be visualizing those separately. (And that the separate viz should show how "not researched" fits in when those answers aren't excluded by the filters).
